What is VNCG
Vapor Nickel Coated Graphite—Made to Perform. Built to Scale.
VNCG is Weber’s proprietary nickel-coated graphite material, engineered using our advanced Nickel Vapor Deposition (NVD) process. Each graphite particle is encapsulated atom by atom in 99.98% pure nickel—delivering consistent performance, high conductivity, and structural stability across a range of demanding applications.
Weber currently offers two commercial grades with a production capacity of over 300,000 lbs per year:
- VNCG085 – 85-micron median particle size
- VNCG050 – 50-micron median particle size (for finer applications)

Grades & Technical Specifications
Weber currently offers two standard grades of VNCG, optimized for different particle size requirements without compromising conductivity or dispersion. Each grade is formulated to balance flowability, packing density, and conductivity for its intended application.

R&D & Future Substrates
Coated Powder Innovation Starts Here
Weber’s in-house R&D team continues to expand the VNCG platform by exploring custom coatings on new substrates. Our dedicated development chamber allows us to rapidly test new materials, refine coating thickness, and scale new formulations.
In Development:
- Graphite with custom particle distributions
- Coated alumina, copper, and silicates
- Dual-functional powders for thermal + structural needs
- Process refinements for tighter coating tolerances and particle morphology control
Why Weber for VNCG
Weber is one of the few manufacturers globally capable of coating graphite with vapor-phase nickel at commercial scale. Our experience in tool-grade NVD carries over into powder engineering—with the same precision, environmental controls, and customer support that global OEMs trust.
