Compression Molds

What Are Compression Molds?

Precision-Built for High-Pressure, High-Performance Molding

Compression molding is a high-pressure, high-temperature process used to form complex, fiber-reinforced, and thermoset parts. Weber designs and manufactures precision steel and aluminum compression molds used across automotive, aerospace, and home/building product industries. Our molds support advanced materials—including SMC (sheet molding compound), BMC (bulk molding compound), and acoustic or structural composites—ensuring tight tolerances and high surface fidelity in demanding production environments.

Weber’s Compression Mold Capabilities

Weber manufactures matched compression molds using P20 steel, aluminum, and Invar, tailored for a range of structural and surface-critical applications. Molds are designed and built in-house using CAD-integrated workflows, large-format CNC machining, and hand-finishing to achieve Class A results.

Our capabilities include:

  • Single- and multi-cavity mold programs
  • Integrated heating and cooling systems (steam, oil, or high-pressure water)
  • Complex parting lines, deep draws, and perimeter lifters or sliders
  • Precision-ground parting surfaces for uniform pressure distribution
  • Tools sized for press tonnage from 500 to 3,250 tons

Support Beyond the Mold

All compression molds built by Weber are fully tested and validated in our on-site mold tryout facility. Tools are evaluated under production conditions using programmable hydraulic presses with vacuum systems and auxiliary controls.

We also provide:

  • Engineering change support and tool service coordination
  • Full CMM inspection and verification
  • Class A surface qualification with Diffracto system
